Travel Document
All visitors to Bali - Indonesia
must possess a passport valid for at least six months after arrival
date in Indonesia with proof of onward passage, with either return
or through tickets. Passport must be valid with an expiry date at
least of six months beyond the expected date of departure from Indonesia.
Otherwise entry may be refused.
Indonesia immigration officials
reserve the right to refuse entry to any visitor who, in their opinion,
is not properly dressed or groomed (long hair is okay), lacks the
proper funds, or "may endanger the country's security, peace,
and stability or the public health and morals." These unfortunate
undesirables will receive a transit visa upon arrival that allows
them to hang out at the airport until the first available flight
out.
Tourist Visa
Some countries can enter Bali
and get a free visa when they arrive which allows a stay of up to
30 days. These countries are: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei
Darussalam, The Philippines, Hong Kong special administration region
(not British passport holders), Macao special administration region,
Chili, Maroko, Peru and Vietnam.
Some countries can get a visa
on arrival which costs US$25 and allows a stay of up to 30 days.
A short stay visa is available costing US$10 for 7 days stay. These
countries are: United States of America, Australia, South Africa,
Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Finland, Hungary,
England (this actually includes Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
and a special arrangement has been made for Hong Kong British subjects),
Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Norway, France, Poland,
Switzerland, New Zealand and Taiwan.
Some countries cannot get
a visa on arrival and have to obtain a visa at the Indonesian Embassy
in their country of origin before they set off. These countries
are: Holland, the Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Spain
(Please note that Ireland does not have an Indonesian Embassy so
visas have to be obtained from the Indonesian Embassy in London.)
Visa on Arrival
This facility is available
for nationals of the following countries: Argentina, Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy,
Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland,
Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States
of America. Citizens of these countries will be able to apply for
a VoA valid for either 7 or 30 days upon arrival by air in Bali,
Jakarta and a few other international airports or by ship at a limited
number of Indonesian sea ports. A 7-day visa costs US$10 and a 30-day
visa costs US$25. The VoA cannot be extended or converted into any
other kind of visa. Also be aware that Immigration officials calculate
the 30-day period as follows: your arrival day is counted as your
first day, and you must leave the country on the 30th day.
How To Obtain Visa on Arrival (VoA)
Travelers from the above
countries must be in posession of a passport which is valid for
at least 6 months from the date of arrival and the completed embarkation/disembarkation
card they received from their airline. They must also be able to
prove they have sufficient funds for their stay in Indonesia.
Arriving travelers with Visa-On-Arrival status have to go first
to one of the 'VoA Counters' to pay the appropriate fee and have
their passports stamped with the VoA before proceeding to the Immigration
Clearance Desk. An official bank is part of the VoA service counters.
Payment of visa fees can only be made in US dollar bank notes, Indonesian
Rupiah equivalent or by VISA or MASTERCARD
