Beautiful Bali Underwater
7 May 2009Land and nature is not the only attraction in Bali. The underwater world is also proving to be a magnet. And, Bali is thought to be equal in beach tourism and marine sports.
Both on the surface and underwater, the sea is proving to be a tourism stimulant, with many of the coral reef clusters still in a healthy period of growth. Not only are the waves perfect potential for sport but also the colorful and variable marine life is drawing more and more attention.
There are a variety of colors and forms of “hard corals” or “soft corals” waving like coconut palm leafs in the currents. Various kinds of fish live among the coral reefs, which are also a place to shelter for a variety of lobsters, clown fish, moray eels, “white tip” sharks, and clams.
Mollusks, sea slugs and sea horses also find a place on the reef to reproduce. So in many respects the coral reef clusters have an identical role as tropical forests on land.
Underwater “Tropical Forest”
According to researchers, the capability of the coral reefs to produce oxygen (02) is greater than plants on land. Similar is the case with the capacity of nitrogen absorption. It has been clear that this underwater “tropical forest” is a challenge for us to explore. In order to enjoy underwater activity it is really useful to be able to go scuba diving, equipped with a regulator to make breathing possible by using gas compressed in an aqualung carried by the diver on his back. This kind of breathing is termed scuba, an acronym from “self-contained underwater breathing apparatus”.
In Bali there are a lot of scuba diving courses, the choice of which may be determined by the individual budget. However, qualifying for a diving certificate so as to enable one to truly enjoy the underwater beauty throughout Bali is an exciting holiday activity. Do you feel ready to try it?
