About Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua, one of the best place names in Bali, is famous for having good environmental management, a green and shady park, controlled and guarded environmental security, and being one of the best tourist destinations in Indonesia. If there are important international meetings in Indonesia, they are usually held in Nusa Dua, Bali. In the past Nusa Dua was not as popular as it is today. In the 1970s, Nusa Dua was only a remote village in the southern part of Bali Island, a fishing village surrounded by barren lime soil. Aside from being a fisherman, the surrounding community works as a limestone processor for building materials. The economy of society is also not good.
Since Ngurah Rai Denpasar Airport Bali was built in the 1960s, which opened Bali's access to the international world, several tourists began to visit Bali. At that time the tourist destination was Sanur with white sandy beaches with a view of the sunrise in the morning. Around the 1970s, Bali tourism began to develop and the Indonesian government began to build tourist facilities in Nusa Dua. Local residents who used to live on the coast of Nusa Dua were moved to the inside and then the area was made into an area that was named BTDC (Bali Tourism Development Corporation). Now BTDC is already changed, becomes ITDC (Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation). This area began to be developed in 1974, as a result of a French consultancy study, SCETO (Societe Centrale pour l'equpeent Touristique Outre-Mer) in 1970 and a feasibility study conducted by PCI (Pacific Consultants International) in 1971-1973 with financial assistance from World Bank. In the site plan, a five-star hotel, hospital, meeting place, recreation area, shopping area, golf course, and other supporting facilities are built inside the Nusa Dua area. Starting from the 1980s, many luxury hotels and villas with international chains start to be operated and serve the tourist as seen today.
Where is Nusa Dua?
Maybe this is the first time you have heard the name of the place, Nusa Dua, and the question arises of where the location of Nusa Dua is. On the Bali Island Map, Nusa Dua is located on the southern tip of Bali, approximately 20 km from Denpasar City, the capital of Bali Province. If you choose to stay at one of the hotels in the Nusa Dua area and arrive at Denpasar Airport Bali, it will take approximately 20 minutes to reach Nusa Dua by airport taxi. Several tourists are visiting Bali through the Padangbai Sea Port, located in the eastern part of the island of Bali. Padangbai Harbor connected Bali Island with Lombok Island. This port also serves transfers to the collection of Gili Islands in Lombok such as Gili Meno, Gili Air, and Gili Trawangan. From Padangbai going to the Nusa Dua area will take approximately 2 hours in normal traffic conditions.
In addition to tourists coming to Bali via the Padangbai Port, some tourists also visit Bali via the Gilimanuk Port which connected Bali Island with Java Island. After finishing the tour in Java such as Borobodur in Centra Java or Bromo Mountain in East Java, they entered Bali through this port. The distance from Gilimanuk Port to Nusa Dua is approximately 145 km and takes around 4-5 hours. Traffic on the main road that connects Gilimanuk and Denpasar is heavily traversed by large cars, trucks, and buses. To go to Nusa Dua from Sanur or Serangan as the location of the fast boat pier that serves transfers to Nusa Penida Island and Nusa Lembongan takes approximately 30-40 minutes via the toll road. Looking for car rental or taxi services from that point going to Nusa Dua is quite easy. However, booking a car rental in advance is highly recommended for convenience trips.
Luxury Hotel and Villas Complex
The Nusa Dua area is designed as an international-class tourist destination. Various tourism facilities are built to provide the best services such as star hotels, private villas, shopping arcades, hospitals, and other facilities. Hotels in Nusa Dua are generally 5-star with all their luxurious supporting facilities. These hotels include Grand Hyatt, Westin, Sheraton Lagona, Marriot, Ayodya, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel, Bali Nusa Dua Hotel, Novotel Nusa Dua, Inaya Putri Bali, Sofitel Nusa Dua, Cinnamon Private Villas, Club Med Bali, Melia Bali, etc. After Nusa Dua developed as the best tourist area in Indonesia, new hotels sprung up around Nusa Dua, restaurants, cafes, and shops selling tourist needs.

If you stay at one of the hotels in Nusa Dua, try to run in the morning, starting from the hotel and then around the BTDC complex, if running around here will cover a distance of approximately 5 km. Local residents in the morning and evening do running and jogging sports around in this area as well. On weekends, the morning sports atmosphere is quite crowded. Light exercise in the morning is very healthy, then back to the hotel to get ready to enjoy the tour or other tourist activities. Maybe your driver is waiting in the hotel lobby. - Cycling Around Nusa Dua
Another light activity that can be done in Nusa Dua is riding a bicycle. The roads around Nusa Dua are very good. Along the beach, there is also a pedestrian where bicycles are allowed to pass while enjoying the view of Nusa Dua Beach. Riding a bicycle becomes a fun activity. Usually, cyclists gather in a park near the water blow. Paddling a bicycle around Nusa Dua is very good, can enjoy the scenery around. - Enjoy Nusa Dua Beach
The white sandy and sloping Nusa Dua beach are one of the attractions, tourists flock to come here while recreation. Almost every hotel around Nusa Dua faces the beach, enjoying the beauty of Nusa Dua Beach, you can go straight from your room or just walk a minute. However, if tourists do not stay here, visit Nusa Dua Beach, there are 3 locations on the way to the beach. Lifeguards stand by on beaches.
- The first access is to the north of the Club Med Hotel, there is a road going east towards the beach. Along the way, there are souvenir shops that sell various handicrafts and clothing. On the beach, there are restaurants and long chair rentals for relaxing. From here, you can see the view of Tanjung Benoa Beach with various water sports activities such as parasailing, jet skiing, donut riding, flying fish, snorkeling, scuba diving, sea walkers, and more.
- The second entrance is to the east of the Bali Collection shopping complex. Before entering this area, an automatic parking ticket machine is located at the entrance. Entrance cars are subject to hourly parking fees. The road to the beach is quite shady, there are many shade trees while enjoying the breeze of the beach. On this beach, some residents work as masseurs, hair braids, renting long chairs, souvenirs, and others which are managed by BTDC managers who have now changed their name to ITDC. Bathing, playing with sand with children, and enjoying the surrounding scenery, are favorite activities and fun here.
- The third entrance is between the Inaya Putri Bali hotel and the Ayodya Nusa Dua Hotel. This beach is called Mengiat Beach, Nusa Dua. The atmosphere of the beach here is a little different from the previous beach, the waves are quite high and rocky. There are restaurants and bars as well as umbrella rentals along with a long chair where you can relax.
- Visit Bali Collection
Bali Collection is a shopping complex in the middle of the Nusa Dua tourist area. Here, many shops sell various souvenirs, clothing, restaurants, cafes, and others. Enjoying dinner here is fun, especially almost every night there is live music and live shows that entertain visitors. Bali Collection is a very comfortable place with a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The quality of goods here is good with prices generally a little more expensive than elsewhere. - Visit Water Blow
When entering the Bali Tourism Development Center Complex, you'll find pathways to the beach. The entrances within easy reach of the Bali Collection's Gate C are the most popular and lead to the public beach between the Grand Hyatt Bali and the Melia Bali Villas and Spa Resort. The shore is mostly crowded with locals and overseas tourists, there are food vendors either walking around or stationed at their bamboo stalls. It is covered with white-golden sand and cleaner than the beaches at Kuta or Seminyak. There is also a jogging and bicycle path with an information map of the area. Tides and currents are not dangerous here but will encounter stronger currents if you swim out between the two small islands, making it a great surfing spot.
If you follow the pathway to the eastern, about 500 meters you will be at Water Blow. Water Blow as the name implies is seawater that spurts up in the middle of the beach rocks. Surely the seawater crashes high when the waves are big and strong, when around it, it will get wet. This natural phenomenon is very interesting and invites tourists to visit to enjoy the scenery with a rock. Keep in mind, that this rocky beach is very sharp and steep, very careful. Not many activities can be done in this place. Water Blow is a unique phenomenon that arises due to large waves that collide with large rocks. Most tourists who come to this place also spend their time taking pictures in front of the waves crashing on the rocks. Some couples do photo prewedding with background water pounding. Before this place was famous, for photo prewedding there was no charge, but now it has to pay a range of IDR 2,500,000 and previously had to report to the BTDC office. Visitors are strongly advised not to do dangerous activities here, despite the high waves. In this place, there are no lifeguard officers who stand by. To visit Water Blow, there is no entry fee, just pay for the parking ticket. The right time to visit is from morning to evening, in the evening it is advisable not to visit this place.
